Let’s first discuss what options you have in case you want to change your name or get your name corrected. It sometimes happens that by mistake, there is an error in our name, or we have to get our name changed because of some legal reasons like divorce etc. Qantas Airlines allows you to do this very conveniently. Let us first know what the definition of name correction and name change include.

Name Correction: Correction in name is applicable when there is a mistake in an existing customer’s name which needs to be rectified. After the name is corrected, a new ticket is issued by the airline which reflects the correct name.

Name Change: This is applicable when the existing customer is no longer able to continue with the travel and makes a request that the unused ticket be used as a credit towards a new ticket in another customer’s name.

For name correction, the policy is applicable only for the bookings which contain Qantas operated and marketed flights only or a combination of Qantas and Jetstar Group flights, either prime or code share, including JQ, 3K and GK.

If no ticket has been issued, one name correction of three characters or fewer to the title or first name or last name. If you have to make corrections for more than three characters, then you are required to complete the online Name Correction Service Request before making the change in your GDS or Technology Partner booking for authority.

For name correction, only the following cases will be taken into consideration:

Typing error within the title, first name and/or last name.

Maiden to marry or vice versa.

Transposed Name

    Sometimes, supporting documentation is also required. You might be asked to provide a copy of your customer’s passport, driver’s licence or any other type of identification that contains the full name. No service fee is applicable for the above name corrections completed pre ticketing.

    If you have to make any changes in your name after the ticket has been issued, then you are required to complete the online Name Correction Service Request. The ticket has to be within the validity and completely unused.

    The following situations will be considered:

    Typing error within the last surname.

    Maiden to marry or vice versa.

    Typing error within the title and/or first name.

    Transposed Name

      In this situation also, if the supporting documentation is required, then you will be asked to provide a copy of your customer’s passport, driver’s licence or any other form of identification that contains your full name.

      For reissuing each ticket, a service fee of $60 is applicable. The payment has to be made while submitting the request or within 4 days. A service fee might also be applicable for any subsequent changes that require reissue. The new ticket issued will be sent to the e-mail address which you provided while submitting the service request.

      Correction of error in Qantas booking

      If you have made an error in your Qantas booking, then the airline provides you the options to rectify those mistakes. Whenever you make any mistake, Qantas Airlines gives you until the midnight of the same day on which you make your booking to let the airline know about the changes you want to make. The airline will make the required changes, that too with no change fees. Remember that this policy is applicable only to the bookings made at qantas.com. Only change and service fees will be waived. You need to keep in mind that if the new fare is placed at a higher value, then you will have to pay the difference in the amount. The changes are also subjected to availability.

      Tickets issued via Qantas Airlines are subject to change fees depending on the ticketed fare rules. Remember that these change fees do not include any Qantas or Travel Agent service fees.

      Whenever you make any changes to your flight, change fees will be applicable. In case of domestic tickets, Qantas change fee will be applicable per customer, per ticket and the level to be charged is as follows:

      For the first change made on a domestic ticket, the fee charged is that fee which was applicable on the date of original ticket issue.

      For any subsequent changes on a domestic ticket, the fee charged is the fee which was applicable on the date of the most recent reissue.

      In all cases where a change of fees is applicable, the ticket has to be reissued, and the change fee has to be receipted separately from the ticket using EMD-S which must be:

      Raised at the time of reissue

      Issued per customer

      Be cross-referenced to the new ticket number

      Show the GST component, when applicable, separately as ‘UO’

      In case, different Qantas domestic fares have been combined on a ticket, the following rules regarding the change fee will be applicable:

      If a change is being made to more than one Qantas fare component in a single transaction, then the highest or what we can say the most restrictive of the change fees for the changed components will be applicable to the entire transaction.

      In case of changes in international tickets, the Qantas change booking fee will be applicable. In case of international tickets as well, where a change fee is applicable, the ticket has to be reissued, and the change fees has to be receipted differently from the ticket using EMD-S which must be:

      Raised at the time of reissue

      Be cross-referenced to the new ticket number

      Issued per customer

      Another thing which you must keep in mind is that when different Qantas fares are combined on a ticket, the following rules for change fee application will be applied:

      If any change is made to only one fare component, the applicable fee will be applied.

      In case a change has been made to more than one Qantas fare component in a single transaction, the highest or the most restrictive change fee will be applicable.
